Pisco & Chopicalqui Climbs — 9 Days (or Yanapaccha & Chopicalqui, 7 Days)
A challenging two-peak programme from the head of the Llanganuco Valley: a warm-up summit — Pisco (5753m) or Yanapaccha (5460m) — for acclimatisation and strength, building to the demanding 6354m Chopicalqui.
Both peaks are conveniently based around the twin Llanganuco lakes, minimising road travel between climbs.

- Grade: up to TD (Chopicalqui)
- Duration: 9 days (or 7 with Yanapaccha)
- Chopicalqui: steep, technical ice
- Not for beginners
Pisco (or the steeper Yanapaccha) provides ideal acclimatisation for Chopicalqui, which has sections of steep, technical ice and is not suitable for climbers without steep-ice experience or instruction. The whole programme is physically demanding, with sustained glacier climbing at altitude.
Essential Trekking Notes & Rules
Two Options
Choose Pisco + Chopicalqui (9 days) or the steeper Yanapaccha + Chopicalqui (7 days). The itinerary shown is the Pisco + Chopicalqui programme.
Acclimatisation
You must be well acclimatised. We recommend a trek or day hikes of at least 4 to 6 days before the Pisco or Yanapaccha climb. Chopicalqui requires steep-ice experience or instruction.

Changing Mountain Conditions

If reports from previous groups indicate unstable or dangerous conditions, we may recommend an alternative climb. The final decision on safety rests with your Peruvian Andes Adventures guide.
