We put our service through a demanding external audit, and on 4 March 2010 we became one of only two companies in the Ancash region to be granted ISO 9001:2008 certification. It is one more reason you can trust who is taking you up the mountain.

Wilderness First Responder and yearly team training
Before every season we run training courses for our guides, porters, cooks and donkey drivers, so the standard never slips. Hisao and Eli Morales have both completed an intensive 8-day Wilderness First Responder course, designed for the situations that can arise out in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash — far from Huaraz, with no helicopter rescue — where the guide, porter or cook is the first one on the scene.

The trek where people come home heavier
Good food is how your body keeps going at altitude, so we take it seriously. Our cooks prepare varied, generous meals from fresh local produce, and an international chef has trained them to cook for any diet without sacrificing flavour. Menus change with each cook's favourite recipes — this is a typical day.

Breakfast
Porridge, quinoa or cereal, with eggs, pancakes or toast and marmalade.
Trail snack box
Nuts and dried fruit, biscuits, chocolate or sweets, a piece of fruit and a small fruit juice.
Cooked lunch
Protein, carbohydrate and vegetables — say a tuna and tomato salad with carrot, cauliflower, broccoli and rice — with herbal tea.
Afternoon tea
Popcorn, crackers, cheese, spreads and nuts, with extra treats like wontons and guacamole.
Dinner
A fresh soup (never from a packet), a main of chicken, fish, meat or a vegetarian dish with pasta, rice or potatoes and vegetables, and dessert.
A word about informal operators
Almost nobody controls who can sell trekking and climbing in Huaraz. Hundreds of individuals and unlicensed companies compete on price by sending unqualified staff, or porters, out as guides — which puts clients at real risk. Before you book with anyone, please check their credentials.
