Treks for families

We love having families with children or teenagers come to Huaraz, and our guides and staff are family people themselves who take real pleasure in being on the mountain with kids. We will suggest the right trek or day hike for yours, weighing their ages, fitness and what they would enjoy, and we keep a slow, steady pace that works for everyone.

Porters can carry the children's day packs, and if little legs get tired we organise a pony to ride for a stretch. Before and after the trek you stay at Morales Guesthouse, three minutes' walk from our office, with rooms and attention set up for families.

Treks for women

Whether you are a woman travelling solo, two friends, or a group of friends, we have wonderful lady guides, cooks and support staff who can come along if you would like the company of women on the trail. They will make sure you have a great time and feel well looked after and safe the whole way.

You decide who joins you. Many women tell us it is the small things that matter most on a first solo trek: a guide who knows the passes, a cook who feeds you properly, and a team you can relax with from the bus station onward.

Hiking & climbing over 50

We organise treks and climbs for hikers over 50, whether you come alone, as a couple or in a larger group. Age is no barrier here; you only need to love the mountains and bring a sense of adventure. We will tailor-make a trek or climb to suit your fitness, and experienced guides will make sure you enjoy our peaks, lakes, culture and history at your own pace.

The pace is unhurried by design. We build in proper acclimatisation, advise when to take a horse for a steep stretch, and coach the breathing that helps at altitude, so you leave Peru with wonderful memories of the country and the people who guided you.

Special interest

Treks built around what you love

Beyond the standard circuits, a few of the special treks we are often asked to put together.
Celebration treks

Celebration treks

A special birthday, an anniversary, even a honeymoon? Our team adds the little extra touches that make the day yours, deep in the mountains. We can even arrange a surprise for someone you love, right down to the birthday cake.

Cordillera Blanca flower treks

Cordillera Blanca flower treks

The rains end in April, and from mid-April to mid-May the Cordillera Blanca turns green and fills with wildflowers found nowhere else. Some of our guides have a real passion for the plants and their ancient medicinal uses. The Santa Cruz Llanganuco trek is ideal, with an extra day at Tuallipampa to walk the nearby valleys at leisure.

Pony treks

Pony treks

No need to miss out if the altitude or the steep paths worry you. On the gentler routes we organise a horse and a handler so you can ride the hard stretches and still soak up the peaks, high passes and lakes. Good options include Santa Cruz Llanganuco, Olleros to Chavin, and the Laguna Jahuacocha loop in the Huayhuash.

Pisco ski descent

Pisco ski descent

Several European clients have climbed Nevado Pisco (5,752m) and skied the descent with us. We bring extra porters to carry the ski gear to the summit. Tell us your dates and group size and we will design the climb around you.
