About this day
A brilliant blue lake set right under the peaks. We drive into the Huascarán National Park, passing the famous twin Llanganuco lakes, and start walking from Cebollapampa at 3850m — a continuous zig-zag climb to Laguna 69 at 4500m, ringed by Chacraraju and Pisco mirrored in the water. The way back faces Huascarán, Chopicalqui and Yanapaccha. A long, tiring day; not one for your first at altitude, but a fine second or third.
