Lake Shallap Remote Hike (4250m)
Not many tourists know of this hike, and apart from the local people there are very few other people about on the trail. The hike to the lake is gradual and not steep, apart from the last 20 minutes where we climb over a moraine wall to reach the lake at altitude 4250m.
The lake is tucked at the foot of the giant mountains San Juan, Tumarinaraju and Huantsan grande and the glacier fields from the mountains flow to the lake. Although on a gradual gradient and not steep, it is a long day walk and suitable for people who have started to acclimatise already and are fit.
