HUARAZ FESTIVALS AND EVENTS

Combine your visit to Huaraz for trekking or climbing with taking in one of the colourful and vibrant festivals that are held in Huaraz each year. Enjoy the local culture, music, dancing and typical foods and exciting atmosphere.

Sundays : Feria De Comidas Tipicas en José Olaya

José Olaya is the only original street of Huaraz left intact after the 1970 earthquake. The homes have a Swiss mountain village atmosphere with a cobbled street, white washed homes with green doors and balconies.

Every Sunday in José Olaya there is a fair of typical foods from the region, and the home owners open their homes and courtyards to guests who enjoy typical dishes like cuy (guinea pig), pachamanca , chicharron, all cooked on a traditional pachamanca fire oven.

Our family at Peruvian Andes Adventures participates in the fair every Sunday, and you are welcome to visit our home to enjoy some local hospitality, food and meet our Peru trekking family..

3 May: Festival Señor De La Soledad Tradicional

Festival to pay homage to the Patron Saint of the Soledad. Enjoy day long dancing competitions and processions in all the streets of Huaraz.

13 May: Fiesta Del Señor De Mayo

3 June: Semana Del Andinismo

A week long tourist event promoting adventure activities such as skiing, kayak, parapente, hangliding, mountain biking and cultural activities.
