Eli is the oldest
son of Pablo, and has been working with his father
and uncles since the age of 16 during school vacations
as an assistant with trekking groups. From his late 20`s
he began guiding trekking groups. He received ongoing
climbing instruction from German instructors, and
later became a Climbing Guide. |
|

In 1999 Eli
became a qualified Professional International Mountain
Guide – UIAGM, assessed by Swiss Instructors.
Eli now has more than 18 years experience working with and guiding trekking
and climbing groups, and has extensive knowledge of the
peaks and routes in Cordilleras Blanca, Huayhuash and
Vilcanota. He is our chief climbing and trekking guide.

Hisao is
Pablo`s third son, and from school age was helping with
trekking groups, first as a donkey driver and then
assistant cook / guide.
From the age of
18 years he worked as a porter for climbing groups, and
began to develop his passion for climbing, He climbed
extensively with other porters and guides and received
ongoing instruction from German climbing instructors. |

Hisao attended
University in Lima from 1992 – 1996 obtaining a bachelor’s
degree in Psychology and Philosophy. Hisao is a qualified
Professional International Mountain Guide – UIAGM.
In 2003, Hisao spent 3 months in New Zealand
on a working holiday and improving his knowledge of the
English language. He speaks fluent English and some German.
Hisao has considerable experience in organising and guiding
trekking and climbing groups, and is our business manager
as well as a chief guide. |

Pablo is the patriarch
of our Family. Now aged in his 60`s, Pablo has lived all his
life in the Huaraz area and the surrounding mountains. |
|

He is one of the
pioneers of leading and guiding climbing and trekking groups
in the Andes. He has organised and guided many climbing
expeditions and treks, and became an accomplished climber in
his own right. He is still active arranging and guiding treks in the
Cordilleras Blanca and Huayhuash. His work has given him the
opportunity to travel to Europe.. Now his sons and daughter
follow in his footsteps with a love of climbing and trekking
in the mountains. |

Anne lives in New
Zealand and is our family friend and business associate. Her
nickname in Peru is “La Bruja” which means “The Witch”
(because of the hair. ) She enjoys the New Zealand outdoors,
particularly tramping, hiking and kayaking. Anne speaks
Spanish and travels to Huaraz each year for trekking and
climbing, and she knows the Cordilleras Blanca and Huayhuash
and many of the local people very well. Anne works with our
trekking crews and helps with our administration when Hisao
and Eli have escaped to the mountains and she can assist you
with all your trekking or climbing inquiries. You can

Mayumi is the only
daughter in the family. She studied law two years at the
University of Huaraz, then married and now has two
children. With her mother, Mayumi runs a busy Sunday market
café in Huaraz, preparing and serving traditional Peruvian
meals. For the last five years Mayumi works with us full
time as a trek guide and also as a cook. She is currently
studying English and enjoys practising her new language with
her trekking clients. |

Rolando is our
youngest brother. Like all our family, he was brought up
trekking, ice climbing and rock climbing and has a special
passion for rock climbing. Rolando is an Aspirante UIAGM
mountain guide, Member of the Peruvian Mountain Guides
Association, and later will train towards his UIAGM
qualification. Rolando is also studying English. |

Edgar is our second
brother. Edgar is studying medicine in Lima, but like all
the family has a love of the mountains and returns to Huaraz
during the eight week university vacation to work with our
groups. He leads our day hikes trips and works as assistant
guide with trekking groups. Edgar has a passion for cooking
and is learning the tricks of trek cooking and is
continually trying new dishes on an family at home. In the
next year you can expect to meet Edgar cooking with trekking
groups. |

Alfonzo is 50
something years old and is an excellent cook. In his younger
days he was a serious climber and climbed almost all the
range of the Cordillera Huayhuash. Now as well as cooking
fantastic meals, he works with us as an assistant climbing
guide and porter. It is rumoured that he once carried 40kgs
to a high mountain camp! |

Esteban is truly a 5
star cook with more than 25 years working in the mountains.
From a small corner in the cook tent with only a 2 ring gas
cooker he produces the most amazing meals. Most clients on our
treks want to take Esteban home with them – he has had many
offers! Like Alfonzo, Esteban is also a very experienced
climber and works with us as a climbing guide. Esteban is
studying English in Huaraz and will be keen to practise!

Victor is just one of
our arrieros (donkey drivers). He lives in Colcabamba and
works with us in the Cordillera Blanca. He has 2 children, and

Cesar is in his late 20´s
and has been cooking for trekking and climbing groups in Cuzco
and Huaraz for many years, following completion of chef training
in the Huaraz technical institute. He also works cooking for
large groups in Chile and Argentina after the Peru season has
finished. Cesar is an experienced climber, and as well as
cooking delicious and varied meals he works with us in the high
mountains as porter and assistant climbing guide. |
